songs you should hear: en av oss er idiot and mitt hus

Okay, right off the bat, I know some people may be more hesitant to listen to an album if its not in English, but this one is SO WORTH IT BELIEVE ME!!!!! If you like alt rock or punk or whatever the hell, I don't know genres, but its so good. I'm a pretty big fan of that sound, but I don't find a lot of albums I enjoy in their entirety because so much of it lacks RHYTHM and FUN its just... walls of vocals. But Animorphs has so many fun rhythms to follow along with. It changes styles a moderate bit between songs but still has a super cohesive sound n I always love when bands can pull that off :)

I looooooove the vocals on here so much. It doesn't get as screamy or loud as their other albums, but I am such a huge fan. The singer is really good at conveying emotions, like "ah bliss" sounds so genuinely joyous, but "en av oss er idiot" sounds very indicted and offended. I love listening to other languages and seeing how they song write - especially titles and rhyming. I've noticed most Norwegian songs use a lyric in the title, even the smaller indie bands, which in English you sort of expect to have long or strange titles. The rhyming in Animorphs also just.. doesn't process as rhyming when you can't understand it tbh. Norwegian just sounds so muddy, I don't know where words begin and end.

As a Norwegian learner, I really enjoyed this album as listening practice. The singer is from the border with Denmark, and he sings quite funny sometimes. It uses nynorsk (a "dialect" of Norwegian) which I am less familiar with than bokmal, so it was interesting to figure out what things meant. I learned about how verbs can be combined with ikke (not), similar to how we have shouldn't/couldn't/can't in English, except you can do it with any verb as far as I can tell. Or the ones that the -kke ending flows with, at least haha. I guess I really like all the Norwegian artists with the extreme accents, because I also love Kaizers Orchestra & I recall reading once that thats a terrible band to learn pronunciation from.
