This is my album of the year, easily. Days Become Years is Cyborg's entry into a more acoustic sound, and by god is it gorgeous. This album centers mostly around change, and the acceptance of it. I find it an interesting contrast to her previous album, Whipper & Hornet, which also deals with change but in a much more angry and depressed way. Days Become Years deals with change in a more soft way. It yearns for things it can't have, due to unchangeable life circumstances or time or age. Its hopeful though. It sees that there are things to look forward to despite living a different life now.

I especially love the instruments used on this album. There are tons of fun instruments that don't usually feature in songs, like mandolins, appalachian box guitars, kalimba. Pots and pans were used, along with real live drums, for percussion. They layer over themselves and get bigger and bigger and more filling. This is not a minimalist project. Still, his signature electric guitars shine through on songs like Magic Golden Card. It has a really good variety of loud and soft, electric and acoustic, hopeful and fearful. This is the first mostly-acoustic project as well, I'm quite excited to see what she can do now that she knows more about making songs in this style.

This project has some of my favourite lyrics from Cyborg yet. The entirety of "Silver Girl" reaches into my mind and rips out all my thoughts lately. I've been in a pretty big period fo change so, "Never expected who you see in the mirror, never expected to live another year" got me pretty good!!!!! Dirt is one of the best intro tracks I've ever heard, I fucking love "feeling the warmth of sunshine after a month of snow". The hope and joy just radiates!!!!!!!!! Its such a good album for this time in my life, as I turn 18 and start making decisions for my own.
