whipper and hornet by huachuca aerostat
songs you should hear: more than a machine and shibuya
This album is a bit different to me than any others on this page.. I was there when it was being made and got to give critique on the wips :D Because of this, it is extra special to me, to see the product of one of my close friends finally being released."Its Never Really Over" was originally not on the final album - It was removed halfway through, and I was like huh? What? So I asked why it was removed because I thought it fit really well. It was added back last minute, and then was the first song to get a bunch of streams, so you're welcome if thats your fav song off the album haha.
I loooove the build ups on this album. More Than A Machine's ladder half is fucking legendary to me, it just goes further and further anf further and further. The lyrics flow so nicely, simultaneously having meaning in their words and also taking on a more poetic purpose of just, sounding great together. I am also a big fan of the extensive metaphors and storytelling on this. I think Cyborg is really good at combining technology and human life, in a way that hasn't been done before. We all know the comparisons of man vs machine, or robots having consiousness type deals, but he's always rlly skilled at finding weirder comparisons, like brain functioning compared to computers skipping frames or abandoned ambitions being like a scrapyard. I am just a big fan of his storytelling haha.
The instrumentals on this thing are soooo amazing, like every synth and guitar is placed fucking perfectly, its a really clean listening experience. Its definitely more rock than his previous work under Cyborg9k. I love the cover and the meaning behind it (Whipper and Hornet are the kachina dolls on the cover, which he got from his dad). The bright yellow background was very iconic, worked very well for promotion/social media themes b4 it got released. I just love every part of this album, the meanings behind the songs, the instrumentals, the lyrics, the vocals, the progression of skill from his previous projects, I'll be listening to Whipper and Hornet till I die probably.
